PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
MSA is a leadership program designed for students who are independently motivated to pursue a unique, rigorous academic path of study in academics and Islamic Studies. We strive to develop global leaders and life-long learners. The program is a mixed group of middle school and high school students, and it runs during regular school day hours. Students enroll in 21st Century Charter School, which is the highest-performing online charter program in Pennsylvania. In addition, they engage in advancing their Quran reading skills with one of Manarah’s Arabic/Islamic studies teachers and spend one hour a week with the Imam from MALV.
The classroom discussions are done in a workshop format and include various topics surrounding Islam, real-world issues, and leadership. It is expected that students demonstrate a high level of independence, responsibility, and self-advocacy as they matriculate through the program. MSA students have access to a team of teachers/support staff. There are four or more 21st-century teachers (one for each content area), one 21st-century Century Learning Coach, one 21st-century Guidance Counselor, and one Manarah Learning Coach. In addition, students who need additional assistance in the areas of their core academics (math, science, history, English/Language Arts) can request to schedule a time to get assistance from Manarah’s middle school academic teachers. Last, students engage in various community service opportunities to demonstrate their leadership skills. This is also a great way for students to shine on their college applications.
